It's pretty weird looking at these photos and remembering what a scortcher Tuesday was, because now it is pissing it down... again. Berlin is beautiful in May and June, but July and August are just plain freaky. I wore tights and a winter coat last week.

As you can probably tell from the photos, I was a sweaty mess, hence the bedraggled hair do. 

My nails totally clashed with the scarf, and in general, this wasn't a very well thought out outfit, but I had to give leopard nails a go. I noticed that llymlrs did hers recently, with Gem Fatale's technique. Mine didn't come out too well, which I think is partly because I'm gross and bite my nails. There's not much room for 'technique'    on what's left of them.

When my boyfriend came home from work and I showed them to him, he said 'My god. You've been bored today, haven't you?' Nice.

Topshop vs. Tesco

Iin the past I've bought a few clothing items and shoes from Tesco. They always have really good online sales, there's often discount vouchers floating around (I use HotUKDeals to find them), and above all else, the quality is really good. I bought a ladder stitch jumper similar to this one last winter for £5 and had a fair few people asked me if it was Topshop.

I still browse the Tesco Clothing website, even though they don't deliver to Germany (boo), and today I came across a dress that looks remarkably similar to one Topshop currently stocks.

The Topshop one does come in a greater variety of colours, but if you're on a budget like me, I'd definitely give the Tesco dress a whirl.

Getting Crafty

I'm on my 6 week school break at the moment. Learning more German is the last thing I want to do, so I avoid it by making cups of tea, watching Spongebob Schwammkopf on the telly (I think you can guess what that is in English) and doing crafty things. My latest project was part of an effort to make our sublet look more homely. I was looking through I Could Make That for some ideas and came across this one.

Here's my version made out of things around the home.

I bought the frame for a Euro and just used an old transport network map.

I'm quite chuffed with it. A lot of the homes I've visited in Berlin have a little piece of Berlin inside them, and now so does ours.

About me...

Hello! This is my first post so I thought I'd best explain a little bit about me and why I've decided to start a blog.

My name is Amy, and I've been living in Berlin, Germany, since February 2011. I'm originally from Yorkshire, England and lived there all of my life. I moved to Berlin with my boyfriend because we wanted a new challenge, and moving to a foreign country is certainly it! He speaks fluent Deutsch, but I don't, so I currently attend 15 hours of German classes a week.

I decided to start a blog because I want to document my time here. We're living on an extremely tight budget so everything in our lives is on the cheap, so I'm going to post outfit posts (and how I manage on just a suitcase and a half of clothing) and cooking posts (how I cab make an evening meal for two for 2EUR). What can I say? You can take the girl out of Yorkshire, but you can't take Yorkshire out of the girl.

Oh, and if you're wondering why this blog is so called, 'Girl looks like a pony' is a lyric from the song 'Toe Jam' by BPA. Being a Talking Heads fan, it's one of my favourite songs, and even though the lyrics are complete nonsense to me, I love it.
